Reading Blog: Nature Sound and Art

T

his was an enjoyable read. I agree with this article that music is more than just entertainment, it really is a way that people can relate and connect to the world. Sound is a unique expression and the sound found in nature could arguably be music itself. The gentle sway of the see or melodic chirp of birds. This vibrant soundscape surrounds us, yet typically we go through our days without even noticing what is around us.

This reminds me of the OM mantra in yoga. It is beautiful because the mantra represents the original harmony of the universe. It is split into sections, AAA, UUU, and MMM. The vibrations echoing through the room during this chant is said to be healing and cleansing. Just how in nature, each sound related to one another in a unique way, this vibration is art in and of itself.

It is beautiful to me that there has yet to be a society found on this earth that does not have some form of music. Music is a way we can emote when words fall short. It is universal and innately human to feel a rhythm and to connect emotionally to music. The soundscape is interesting because it is creating art without creating music using sound. This requires some out of the box thinking, to create an auditory adventure. It is cool to me that we can communicate a story through sounds.
